INVASIVE SPECIES
Invasive species are a continuing
problem throughout Adirondack lakes. The good news is that none have been found in Lake Abanakee, as yet. We monitor the lake to make sure that we catch invasive species as soon as they pop up. We participate in the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP), stationed at Paul Smith's College.
We are always in need of more members to volunteer - there's lots of shore line! We invite you to become a monitor and get out on the lake with a purpose - helping to protect the place we all love. Our current Abanakee monitors are Bronna Romanoff, Ruth Rosenstein, Bob & Pat McNamara, Sally Cockburn, Susan Ritchie-Ahrens. Contact: lakeabanakee@gmail.com, or visit the APIPP site.
If interested in monitoring for invasive species take the online training and join us on the lake.
